Ang Pow in the market exist in many size and shapes, depends on manufacturer and designer, the most common ones are either square or rectangular. The reasons for been for easy placement of money in the envelope.
Red Packet Size Does Matters
The standard full size red packet (usually rectangle 80-90mm x 155-165mm) will accept most banknotes (depends on the size of the banknotes) inserted flat in, without folding the notes. It ensure new notes fresh from the bank are delivered at the best condition. However full size Ang Pow might not be pocket friendly as the smaller size Ang Pow do (usually rectangle 75-85mm x 110-120mm). Another variant of Ang Pow is the mini sized square Ang Pow, which is “wallet Friendly”. However in this type of mini square Ang Pow, the notes likely need to fold two or three time before inserting, depending on the size of bank notes.

Ang Pow in Portrait Format
The design on the Ang Pow comes in either portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal), just like a postcard or a photo. It is a general classification based on orientation of designs.
